-Nancy Ward, Seniors CoordinatorOn Monday, August 21, 2017, approximately 38 seniors gathered in the fellowship hall for a fun Luau. Most everyone wore a flowered or bright colored shirt to show their Hawaiian spirit. Leis were passed out to everyone also. Some wore true Hawaiian beads they had obtained on their own personal trip to Hawaii. The fellowship hall was decorated with pineapples, hula girls, sea shells and other Hawaiian décor. As a special surprise, Dorcas Seaford dressed in her grass skirt and entertained with an “Aloha” hula around the room! Everyone enjoyed and appreciated her sharing this special talent with us! Our other entertainment for the Luau was a band Felix Rummage plays with. There were four in the band who played and sang gospel songs. Judy Grainger was the lead singer and guitar player, but there was also a banjo player, a bass guitar player and Felix on his guitar. Everyone enjoyed their singing and playing. Seniors were given an opportunity to sign up for an appointment to have their picture taken for our upcoming directory in September before and after the meal. Robert had devotions and the blessing. Our meal consisted of: Bar-B-Que chicken, baked beans, potato salad, two kinds of slaw, a fruit tray and Hawaiian sweet rolls. Dessert was a pineapple cake made by Joyce Jones and apple dumplings with ice cream, as well as a strawberry/pineapple congealed salad. The door prize was won by Nora Smith.
