-Nancy Ward, Seniors Coordinator On Monday, October 16, 2017, Eighteen Fork Seniors met at the church for
A trip to Cana & Hillsville, Virginia. We boarded the bus and Robert had prayer for us around 9:00 AM before we left. We had reservations to eat lunch at the Hungry Farmer Restaurant in Cana at 11:30. We were a little ahead of time, so Dallas pulled into the parking lot of Walmart in Mt. Airy where we shopped and visited the rest rooms for about 45 minutes. Most of the folks on the trip had been to the Hungry Farmer Restaurant before and remembered the good country food they have. It is served buffet style and everyone was able to eat all they wanted. We are already talking about going again sometime soon. Hopefully they will have some good country ham next time! After lunch, we boarded the bus and headed to Hill’s Orchard a few miles up the road. There were apple trees everywhere loaded with beautiful apples. They have a stand where they sell the apples by the pound. There were many different kinds of apples available as well as other produce. The people there were extra nice and helpful, and everyone was able to purchase the apples of their choice. We left Hill’s and went back to the Cana area where we stopped at a very large produce stand. They had all kinds of produce, candy, flowers, pumpkins, country ham, new pintos, etc. Everyone was able to buy all they wanted. After this stop, we headed back home and arrived at the church around 3:00PM. This was a fun and enjoyable trip for all who went. Those that went were: Dallas & Connie Jones (Dallas drove); Felix Rummage; Charles Wood; Gene & Nancy Ward; Ginny Cope; Bill & Jean Livengood; Wilson Merrell; Maxine Richardson; Julia & Ken Howell; Jerry & Betty Graham; Alvin Howard; Jim Bailey & Ann Younts. Our next Senior gathering will be on Tuesday, November 14th in the fellowship hall where we will celebrate Thanksgiving with a meal and entertainment.
